TIME MANAGEMENT PART II ACTION PLAN

Easy ways to start getting things done fast!

  • Prioritize the tasks that have maximum effect.
  • Do not open your email and listen to voicemail first thing in the morning.
  • Schedule and batch returning phone calls and emails.
  • Arrive to appointments early.  Get comfortable in your setting and have what you need all set up.
  • Respect other’s time and set the expectations that you are always on time.
  • Maintain the boundaries you set for yourself.  Keep meetings and phone conferences focused and as short as possible.  If a meeting can be a well drafted email, do so.
  • Keep at least an hour of your day completely free.  Allow yourself to recharge.
  • Make sure that you take care of yourself.  Eat well, stay hydrated, get enough sleep.
  • Never completely wear yourself out.
  • Refuse to be in a hurry.
  • Get a good planner or use your phone calendar.   Free your mind and use the reminders.
  • Set daily and weekly goals- and stick with it.  Be realistic with your goals.
  • Do not focused on what went wrong or what you could have improved on for too long.  Keep moving forward.
  • If you have to drive around to complete a task; take a few minutes to organize the route, check the traffic and be mindful of the weather conditions.
  • Do not multitask.  Do what you need to do, concentrate (no distractions) and do it well.
  • Do not overbook yourself.   Allow for any unforeseen issues. The worse that can happen is that you are done with the task faster.
  • Take time for vacation.

The key is to make sure that you have a balance between work and taking care of yourself.  Managing your time can help you manage stress and anxieties that get in the way of productivity.
